Many of the workers we employed at DB Work have some common interests that we are fully aware of. First of all, attractive accommodation, they want to set a salary and transport, and after that, they want to assure themselves that their children will also be safe and will have everything they need. We get a lot of questions about how to get a Netherlands child benefit and what to do to get it. To help everyone, we have written a special guide for this process.
Like most European countries, children under the age of 18 can receive financial assistance. Or rather, parents receive financial aid that makes it easier to raise a child. From a legal point of view, this financial aid is provided to make sure the child has clothing, necessary food, and even to support school expenses.
The Dutch name for this financial aid is kinderbijslag, or child benefit Netherlands. The procedure by which this money will be allocated to the children is through the parents.
Kinderbijslag is help for children, but there are other categories of such help that you will be able to receive. To do this, parents must be registered as citizens of the Netherlands and must live in the Netherlands.
The money is transferred to the parents' account through the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB). But to receive this money, you have to apply for it using the DigiD code. Obtaining the DigiD code is another process you will have to go through, but we have a dedicated article for that as well.
The amount of money you receive may vary depending on your parents' financial situation and may increase as your parents earn less. If you have a child with a disability, kinderbijslag(child benefit Netherlands) will be bigger. But the basic amount for a middle-income family, depending on their age, a Netherlands child allowance can be:
If you have already applied for kinderbijslag and still fall under the normal income limit, the Dutch state comes to your aid with another fund. It's called Kindgebonden and is a special budget for parents who earn very little money. There are also some conditions and criteria that you must meet to be eligible for this fund:
Things are pretty simple. If you have a child under the age of 18, all you need to get a Netherlands child allowance is the DigiD code, and from there you will be guided by the authorities. If you need more information about employment in the Netherlands or what other documents you need, do not hesitate to ask us.
We offer support for each of those who are hired through DB Work.
